A scripture-based guide to help you ground your 2025 in hope and purpose.
The start of a new year is a chance to reset, refocus, and realign our lives with God’s promises. Whether 2024 was full of wins, challenges, or a mix of both; stepping into 2025 with hope and purpose starts with anchoring yourself in what God says about you. Here are five Bible verses to help you get started right, reminding you that the Father loves you with the same love he has for his Son and is with us every step of the way.
1. Psalm 16:8-11 — "You make known to me the path of life; in your presence is fullness of joy, at your right hand are pleasure forever more.”
This passage speaks of the fullness of joy found in God’s presence. As you step into the new year, let these words remind you that God’s path leads to life, and soaking in His presence opens up the path to deep and real joy.
Action Step: Spend time each morning reflecting on God’s presence in your life. Write down one way you see Him guiding or blessing you each day.
2. John 17:23 — “I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.”
This verse reveals the depth of God’s love for us, matching it to the love He has for His Son. As you begin the year, ground yourself in the truth that you are deeply known and loved by the Father.
Action Step: Reflect on how being loved by God changes your perspective on the year ahead. Write a prayer thanking Him for His unchanging love.
3. Psalm 23:1-3 — “The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.”
This beloved psalm highlights the Lord’s guidance and care in our everyday moments. As your guide, He provides rest, refreshment, and direction, in all the highs and lows of every single year. Look to him as he walks alongside you.
Action Step: Reflect on how God has led you in the past year. Take a walk out in nature and thank Him for His provision and guidance in your life.
4. Philippians 4:6-7 — “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Anxiety is pretty common for most of us these days, especially when stepping into a new season. This verse has always encouraged me to replace worry with prayer, grounding ourselves in God’s peace that surpasses understanding. Action Step: Start a gratitude journal this year. Each time you feel anxious, write down three things you’re thankful for and present your concerns to God in prayer.
5. Proverbs 3:5-6 — “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
These verses are a reminder to trust God completely and not rely on our own understanding. As we submit our plans to Him, He promises to guide our steps and make our paths straight.
Action Step: Identify an area in your life where you need to trust God more. Pray for His guidance and choose to let go of trying to control the outcome.
Starting 2025 anchored in faith isn’t about having a perfect year; it’s about walking with a perfect God who holds your year in His hands. Take these verses to heart and let them shape your mindset and actions as you step boldly into what God has in store.
